Christenings, also known as baptisms, are a special service to welcome a child or adult into the Christian faith and the life of the church. You are welcome to have your child baptised in one of our churches, providing you meet the criteria below:
- You live in the parish, or
- Your parent’s live in the parish
- If you live outside the parish but still qualify to be married in one of our churches, the Vicar will seek the good will of the incumbent of the parish in which you live.
Baptisms must be booked through the office, and will be conducted on a Sunday, either within the normal service or at a special service normally immediately following, dependent on the availability of the Vicar on that day.
Godparents should be baptised themselves, although there is no requirement for the child’s parents to be baptised.
There is no fee for a baptism although a donation to the church is always welcome.
Baptisms are not restricted to babies either – adults can be baptised too – please contact the Vicar for details.
