The Alford Group of Churches

The Parish of Alford in Lincolnshire

St. Andrew’s Church, Beesby

Beesby is a small farming village with a population of about 90 and is now amalgamated with the neighbouring village of Maltby-le-Marsh (population about 300) following the closure of their church. These villages are three and four miles respectively from Alford.

The 12th Century grade II listed building is a plain little church largely restored in the late 19th Century.

A major refurbishment project for Beesby Church started in 2001. In 2002, with the help of the Beesby Residents Association and the Alford Group of Parishes. This is now completed and we are really pleased with the results

There are two services a month, Eucharist on the second Sunday and Evensong on the fourth Sunday, both at 3pm. We have an average congregation of ten dedicated members with wonderful support on special occasions.

The challenge ahead is to increase the worshipping members from both villages and to continue to play an important part in the Alford Group of Parishes.
