The death of a loved one is always a difficult time, and arranging a funeral can be hard. A Church of England funeral allows you to give thanks for the unique person you knew and loved in a way that gives comfort and hope. You need to contact a local Funeral Director who will be able to take much of the strain from you, and guide you through the process of a Church service and burial or cremation.
The Funeral Director will work with us to arrange the service in one of our churches if required, and where it is permissible the burial in one of our churchyards. There is a fee for the Church service and burial which will be dealt with through the office and the Funeral Director, and the we will arrange for organist and vergers where necessary.
Burial of ashes of a loved one following an earlier cremation can also be arranged, either through a local Funeral Director or direct with the office.
Headstones and Memorials
Following burial a headstone or plaque is often required to mark the grave. The Regulations surrounding permissible headstones and plaques is quite extensive, and you should contact a local Stone Mason who will work with us to ensure your preference meets those Regulations.
It is normal to wait around six months after the burial of your loved one before having a headstone placed over their grave.
